History

The study of History at Blackminster covers a wide range of topics: Ancient Greece, the Victorians and world war two in Year 6, the roman and medieval periods in Year 7 and the making of the united kingdom in Year 8...history is taught in a range of different ways throughout the school with a real focus on academic achievement in the subject.

There are also lots of opportunities for active learning; with visits to museums, drama, creating replicas of historical artefacts in the classroom and visits into the school from experts in the subject such as the ‘time traveller’; A member of the sealed knot society...pupils are overwhelming positive about the teaching and learning in history at Blackminster and many of them go on to study it at gcse at high school.
